We are three days into Super Bowl media week and its business as usual for Super Bowl media coverage. We’re hearing about the “who dat” debate, Rex Ryan flipping off Miami MMA fans, and the ‘controversy’ over who Archie Manning will pull for this Sunday. These topics make the Miami weather seem interesting. So what’s missing? How about some stories about the game?

Quick sidebar: Does anyone else feel like the rainy week in Miami leading up to the game is a bit too familiar? It is a little unsettling that we might have to watch these two great offenses play on a soggy field like the last time Peyton Manning was in the Super Bowl. Note to the NFL, the Super Bowl should always be played in a stadium with a closed roof.
These two teams are full of players doing and saying the right things. No bold predictions, no Joey Porter like trash talking, and no mental breakdowns. While this is exactly what you want out of players if you are coaching them, the hundreds of press, many of whom aren’t regular sports staff, are looking for something fun or dramatic to talk/write about. No luck this week.
I don’t know about you but in the absence of controversy, I would actually like to hear some experienced football analysts break down these teams. Good thing we still have Thursday through Saturday to talk football. Ready…set…go!
