Chargers and Titans: a meaningful matchup Xmas Day

Finally! The Chargers and Titans present a very intriguing matchup for Christmas Day. The Bolts are playoff bound and playing well in December as they usually do. The Titans are fighting for a wildcard spot after starting 0-6.
In case you haven’t been watching football for the past few years the Chargers are executing their annual strategy. Each of the last several years they are a sexy pick for analysts in July, play subpar in September, and shine December. This year, they are hoping to ride the momentum of another strong regular season finish through the playoffs and in to the Super Bowl.
The Titans have been just as hot the second half of this season but are fighting for a wildcard playoff spot in the AFC because of their slow start. At 0-6, everyone had written Tennessee off as a bust following their impressive 2008 season. Everyone, that is, but the Titan players. With Vince Young back at QB and Chris Johnson staking his claim as the league’s best RB, the team has a chance (even though it is slim) to make waves in the post season.
This is a tough game to pick as the Chargers have secured a playoff spot and are on the road against a team that has found a way to win 7 out of their last 8 games. The AFJ staff is split on picking this one. Despite the outcome, we hope that all reading this and watching the game have a very Merry Christmas with loved ones…as long as they keep their awkward conversation to commercial and halftime breaks.
