Bengals Hope Strong Start Will Pay Off

Chad Ochocinco tried to bribe a referee this past weekend with a single dollar bill. The “big spender” was making light of a challenge made against his 3rd quarter catch along the sideline. Despite his failed attempt to sway the official, the Bengals went on to win the game and sit at the top of the NFC North division. Next time 85 should try reaching a bit deeper into those pockets. Either that or dragging his toes inbounds with possession of the ball.

With a big win on Monday night the Steelers have setup a very important division game next week in Pittsburgh. The Broncos have received much consideration as the most surprising team in the NFL this season, but Cincinnati deserves similar recognition as they wrap up week nine at 6-2, beating the Ravens for the 2nd time this season. Not many would have predicted this turnaround given the Bengal recent history of disappointing seasons.

Palmer v. Roethlisberger will likely be the headline but next week’s match up is about two good defenses and Mendenhall and Benson running the ball effectively. Not knowing the point spread at this time, I have to take the Steelers at home in a relatively close game. But just like the last time these teams played, if the Bengals can stay close they have a shot at another upset to sit alone at the top of the division.
